Sway Cool is a jazz trio featuring keyboard, bass and congas, playing mostly Bossa Nova, Samba, Latin Jazz and Great American Songbook tunes.
Originally from Chicago, Dan Weiss is a biologist and high school teacher and has been playing electric and upright bass in the Seattle area for decades. Before joining Sway Cool, he played with several rock and jazz groups in the Seattle area, including Shakin’ Josie, Six of One and Lisa Eve and the Two Bits. In addition to Sway Cool, he continues to play with Lisa Eve and the Two Bits. Favorite gigs: Fremont Fair, Wurstfest, That One Hilarious Wedding.
Originally from Havana Cuba, Carlos Herrera is a retired environmental engineer who’s been playing a variety of percussion instruments and harmonica since grade school. Before joining Sway Cool, he played congas and harp with several Seattle rock and folk rock groups, including Shakin’ Josie, Six of One and the Bill Derry Band. In addition to Sway Cool, he now also plays with the Tim Hunter and Friends. Favorite gigs: Neumo’s, U District Street Fair, Grand Opening Seahawk’s Stadium.
An Olympia native, Annie Herrera is a retired environmental policy advisor who’s been playing accordion and piano since she was 6. As a youngster, she busked in California, Nevada, Montana and Michigan. More recently, she played accordion and keyboard and sang backup in several Seattle folk rock bands, including Six of One and the Bill Derry Band. Favorite gigs: Fremont Fair, Wurstfest, The Jewelbox.
